Chief Strategist, Sales (Akamai Technologies, Inc.; Atlanta, Georgia): The Chief Strategist, Sales will be responsible for understanding key technology trends and mapping those trends toward progressive growth strategies for Akamai. This individual through a technical scope will be responsible for identifying, developing, and executing strategic partnerships and go to market strategies in support of revenue growth for both end user customers and strategic partners. Reporting to the VP of Commerce, the Chief Strategist, Sales will engage across Akamai with key leadership, technical, sales, services, presales, product and Industry teams toward advancing Akamais go to market strategy. The Chief Strategist, Sales will be responsible for extracting value from Akamais existing strategic partnerships and developing new partnerships that stimulate revenue growth, accelerate the acquisition of new customers and enhance Akamais value proposition. This individual will also work to create new and innovative business models between our largest web aggregators to generate new revenue streams and optimize cost and quality for all parties. The ideal candidate must provide technical vision and identify areas for expansion to build on Akamais current success, anticipate market transitions, and drive continued growth. The position requires that the successful candidate keep her/his finger on the pulse of rapidly evolving, technology markets and industry trends served by Akamai and work with the leadership team to identify and develop new opportunities for the company. Responsibilities include: through technical knowledge drive business planning and execution of roadmaps for existing and new market opportunities in our customer base; in collaboration with Product and Marketing, develop new and innovative business and pricing models to drive revenue and retain customers; engage within possible M&A decisions to review the product portfolio and asses the complement to the Akamai product suite; engage with Akamais customers including their leadership teams to understand customer requirements that translate into technology products for Akamai; bring commerce industry expertise to bear as they develop new GTM strategies across multiple identified Industries (Commerce, Finance, Emerging); develop long-term growth opportunities and strategic plans for the overall Web Americas Division; pursue the develop and execution of various market development deals, including resell, co-sell and joint development; partner with the Sales organization to ensure there is internal organizational alignment for post-deal business execution; support key partner relationships directly or indirectly through existing partner relationship managers; develop the business strategy to maximize aggregators partnerships in support of SaaS based deployment models; drive partner projects forward by working with cross-functional teams and documented quarterly executive updates; prepare and present thought leadership at Key Industry and market relevant events; will see around corners to anticipate future trends, new market transitions, and incorporate customer feedback that enable long-term business success; provide clear and effective leadership even in tough or crisis situations, creates alignment and sustained motion towards a common cause; and takes unpopular stands if necessary; encourages direct and tough debate but isn't afraid to end it and move on, faces adversity head on; and being energized by tough challenges. Travel required up to 30% of the time.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Masters degree in Technology or a related field plus 8 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, will accept a Bachelors degree or equivalent degree in Technology plus 10 years of relevant experience.

MUST HAVE (can be gained concurrently): 7 years of hands-on experience in internet or related technology; leadership skills to articulate vision, build business case, and drive outcome; experience working with key technology platforms like AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Oracle, IBM, SFCC; understanding of various internet technologies such as HTTP, DNS, J2EE, SPA, SSL, SOA framework; experience in ecommerce technology and understanding of latest technology trends like DevOps, Microservices and Cloud based architectures; possesses strong consensus building skills; experienced at working with stakeholders across multiple departments; experience and fluency in presenting to leadership and C level executives; industry experience in software or technology in both a large multi-billion company and/or in a higher growth mid-cap; extensive business and technical acumen with a sustained record of business aligned strategies and solutions that drive improved business performance; highly collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively in a matrixed environment and build successful relationships with various stakeholders; possess outstanding organizational and leadership skills - strong written and oral communication skills, interacts and is highly respected by employees at all levels, and who treats people with respect; a leader that is known for building organizational capability through diverse and deep talent pipelines; experience interacting, presenting, and influencing board-level executives; ability to deal comfortably and effectively with senior management and/or Board members; understands expectations and needs unique to senior management; tailors communication content, delivery and style accordingly; ability to project how potential ideas may play out in the marketplace, is good at bringing the creative ideas of others to market and has good judgment about which creative ideas and suggestions will work; ability to effectively manage balance between conflicting ideas or goals, demonstrates agility in thought processes and actions to effectively manage both short-term and longer-term goals; and strong planning, operational, and analytical skills.
